Los Garcia Brothers are known for their “pachuco” style (colorful zoot suits and feathered fedoras) and rhythmic conjunto sound. Started in 1990 in Eagle Pass by Jimmy Garcia, the group’s successful albums included hit songs like “Dos Carnales,” “El Pachuco,” “El Cometa” and their breakout hit, “Cuatro Paredes.” They took home the 2001 Album of the Year Award in the conjunto category at the Annual Tejano Music Awards and named the Most Promising Band. The following year, the Tejano Music Awards once again awarded Los Garcia Brothers with the Conjunto Album of the Year before the untimely death of their 27-year-old founder in a car crash. The Los Garcia Brothers name has continued as Jimmy’s brother, Joey Garcia, spearheads the group, and along with their father, Joe Garcia, continues recording the conjunto music that launched their family’s dream. Tejano conjunto is known for its electrifying polkas and cumbias that uniquely blend accordion music with the band’s outstanding saxophone and forceful percussion sections. In 2013, Los Garcia Brothers was inducted into the Tejano ROOTS Hall of Fame.
