LA FIEBRE, established in 1986, as a rock band, would quickly transform into one of Latin Music’s most promising and influential Tejano bands in the Tejano music industry.

In 1988 the group recorded their first album, “Contagious”. Under their own label, L.F. Records, the group self-produced their debut album. This album gave them their first two charted songs, “Vestida De Color De Rosa” and “Por Tu Culpa”.

Their album, “On The Rise” produced in 1989 gave the group their first smash hit, “Borracho De Besos”. The album became platinum and sold over 100,000 copies in the United States and was on the Billboard magazine chart for several weeks.
The group’s early success came from a string of hit albums that pushed them to the top of sales charts and radio playlists across the country. After producing three albums with Cara Records; the band signed with Capitol Records.

One of the Most Explosive Shows

Armed with one of the most explosive shows in Latin music, LA FIEBRE quickly became a major draw on the Tex-Mex circuit in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Their shows became spectacle and typically consisted of smoke, lights and pyrotechnics combined with a state-of-the-art sound system to produce a caliber show for Latin and Tex-Mex audiences.

Gold and platinum-selling albums such as “On The Rise,” “No Cure,” and “911,” firmly established the group as trendsetters in the Tejano music industry.

Signing with Freddie Records

In February 1997, LA FIEBRE fulfilled their obligation and left Capitol Records and signed with Freddie Records.

Their first release with Freddie Records was the album, “Fenomenal”. Shortly after the release of their debut album, several band members made a decision to leave the group to fulfill other obligations and pursue different career paths.

Rocha, Reynosa and Espinoza elected to carry on with new members and continued to record.

In 1998, LA FIEBRE reached a milestone in their career when they received a Grammy nomination in the Best Tejano Album category for their second album with Freddie Records “Fiebre Live…En Concierto!” This album, which was primarily recorded at the Freddie Fest in Corpus Christi and a performance in San Antonio, proved to be a commercial success, and also proved to everyone that LA FIEBRE was still very much a force in the industry.

In the fall of 1998, the group entered the studio to begin production on their next album. The release of “Evolucion,” in 1999 was followed by more touring and more personnel changes.

La Fiebre Reunion and On

On July 22, 2003, the original members of LA FIEBRE reunited and headlined before a capacity crowd at Houston’s Party on the Plaza concert series. The group was welcomed with open arms by fans that had waited for years to see the band together once again.
Shortly thereafter, the band returned to the studio to record the album, “Reunidos”. The next 10 years, the band continued to tour across the United States.

In early 2013, Pete Espinoza departed from the group; thus began a search for a new singer.

La Fiebre auditioned vocalists until they heard the voice of J. Angel Cantu and knew instantly he would be the new voice of LA FIEBRE.

December 2, 2014 La Fiebre’s new cd, NUEVA ERA, was released. In November 2015 the new album, Nueva Era, was nominated for a Latin Grammy!

Their song, “Hipnotizado” was selected to be featured in a film/movie by Actor/Director David Fernandez Jr. in “A Father’s Journey”. (2015)

La Fiebre was the 1st Tejano Band to perform at the Houston Symphony’s 3rd Annual Day of Music at the Jones Hall in Houston, Texas. It was a great experience & received an overwhelming response! (2015)

On September 28, 2021, La Fiebre was nominated for a Latin Grammy at the 22nd Annual Latin Grammy for Best Tejano Album, HISTORICO!

Los Kumbia Kings remained at the forefront of Latin pop for years on end, primarily as a producers with a long track record as a hit songwriters. Their recording career began (1997), the first of many albums that Kumbia Kings would produce and co-write themselves. Kumbia Kings, a bilingual hitmaking collective that fused traditional Mexican music (cumbia, above all) with urban American styles (hip-hop, funk, R&B, reggae), topping it all off with a slick sheen of easily enjoyable pop accessibility.

Los Kumbia Kings Go International

Elida Reyna Y Avante, also known as Elida Y Avante (EYA), is a Latin Grammy Award winning Tejano band formed in the Rio Grande Valley in 1992. Their first two albums “Atrevete” (1994) and “Algo Entero” (1996) were qualified for gold status and produced the popular singles “Luna Llena”and “Lagrimas De Amor”. They were awarded “Billboard” Magazines “Revelacion Del Año” award, and were named “Rising Group of the Year” at the TTMA Industry Awards in 1995. Their 2010 album, “Fantasia”, earned them a Latin Grammy Award. Lead singer Elida Reyna was given a place in the “Tejano Roots Hall of Fame”.

She formed Elida Y Avante in 1992 in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. They released their first album Atrevete in 1994 under La Mafia’s label at the time, Voltage Entertainment. This album spawned the hit “Luna Llena” They received TTMA Industry Awards for “Rising Group of the Year” and “Rising Female Vocalist of the Year” in 1995. It went gold (denoting sales of at least 50,000 units), propelled by the hit single “Luna Llena” and Hernandez’s use of a stand-up bass to create a unique sound. Before they could enjoy their success, however, they were feuding with Voltage. Groups rarely leave a powerhouse like Voltage (with its major-label distribution) unless they’ve already lined up another company with comparable juice.

Going Out on Their Own in The Music Industry

Elida y Avante shocked the industry by going out on its own. The group self-released one single and then did something nearly as shocking by signing in 1996 with unknown Tejas Records in San Antonio, which had released just one album—and a blues album at that. In 1996, Reyna won the TTMA Award for “Rising Female Star” and in 1997, she hosted the Pura Vida Awards. At the 1999 Tejano Music Awards, Elida Y Avante won “Most Promising Band of the Year”. In 2000 Reyna scored big with a Ranchera song entitled, “Duele”. At that years Tejano Music Awards, Reyna won “Female Vocalist of the Year”, “Female Entertainer of the Year”, & “Song of the Year”, with “Duele”. Reyna has since traveled the world, performing in Asia and Europe.

Elida Reyna The Early Years As a Female Tejano Artist

Elida Reyna was born in San Antonio, Texas. She first lived in Dallas, Texas, but she lived in a bad neighborhood, and her grandmother had been ill, so her family decided to move to Mercedes, Texas when she was 8 years old. She was then raised in Mercedes. Growing up she listened to Tejano Music legends like Roberto Pulido, La Mafia, Grupo Mazz and Laura Canales. Canales and her music had a big influence on Elida. Canales showed Elida that Tejano music wasn’t just for guys. Reyna is known as “La Reina Del Valle Mágico” (“The Queen of Magic Valley”) Reyna began singing at quinceañeras and weddings in 1988. In 1991, while studying at Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas, she met arranger Noel Hernandez. Hernandez later became the bass player for the band. In 1992, Reyna abandoned her studies to pursue music full-time.

Tejano Musical brothers Honored by Tejano Roots Hall of Fame

“This is the first time we’ve ever gotten nominated for anything. Outside of being recognized for our longevity by the Tejano ROOTS Hall of Fame a few years back,” first singer and bajo sexto player Javier Vidal said. “And just to be nominated is a win in itself.”

Vidal said the group has had several name changes throughout the years, but the heart of the group has always remained the same with Tejano musical brothers Javier, Rudy, Ronnie and Daniel performing together.
